In light of latest escalation in Russia – Ukraine conflict, European Union adopted on 6 October, new restrictive measures against 30 individuals and 7 Russian entities. The Council of the EU also expanded the criteria that lead to the definition of restrictive measures, also considering the possibility of hitting those which facilitate the avoidance of sanctions.

Among those affected by the new restrictive measures are organizers of referendums in Russian occupied areas occupied of Ukraine, high-ranking officials of the Russian Defense Ministry, relevant figures in the field of Russian arms production, a Russian political scientist and two Russian singers.

Among the companies affected by the new restrictive measures there are companies operating in Russian defense and security sector but also the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

As of today, EU restrictive measures apply to 1236 individuals and 115 companies, it seems useful to remind that, individuals and entities subject to restrictive measures are subject to a freeze on assets and the EU citizens and businesses are prohibited from making funds available to them. Individuals are also subject to a travel ban, which prevents them from entering or transiting EU territories.
